Current role: Timolin is president and Casey is vice president of Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc., a Palm Beach County-based nonprofit named after their father that provides music education to children in need.
Background: The twins were born in Los Angeles and raised in New England. Timolin graduated with a B.A. in English from Amherst College and worked in entertainment public relations in New York for five years. Casey graduated with a B.A in French and International Relations from Brown University and worked as a French translator and in music production.
Products or services: Recent programs include the Nat King Cole Generation Hope Summer Strings at Lynn University, a camp serving Title 1 students from seven elementary schools; Guitars Over Guns, an aftercare program; as well as underwriting conservatory student mentors who teach in local elementary schools.
Strategy: “Our vision is that our father’s unforgettable legacy ensures that future generations are given the opportunity to learn and experience the joy of music in their lives,” Casey says.
Secrets to their success: “Trust in God, self and those who share our mission. Show appreciation for the blessings and people in our lives,” the Cole sisters say.
Accolades: Casey was nominated for Junior League Woman of the Year. Both have been honored with the National Award for Community Service, Grace Episcopal Church, Jamaica, N.Y.; and the Fort Lauderdale Links Chapter Legacy of Service Award.
Favorite female role model: Timolin: Oprah Winfrey. “So pleased she supports our mission, running our mission ad in the January issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. Casey: “My sister Timolin – she is a great mom, a great role model and my best friend.”
The actress best able to portray them: Timolin: “Angela Bassett now … and Kerry Washington in my youth.” Casey: “Holly Robinson Peete – I’ve known her for over 15 years, she is real and can more than relate to being a hands-on mom.”
Favorite local restaurant: Both love Japango and for family outings it’s Uncle Julio’s.
Favorite beverage: A Cole-tini, which is “somewhat like a Lemon Drop martini served with a little jazz.”
Hobbies: Timolin plays tennis and Casey enjoys watching her son play high school football.
Pets: Yellow Labrador retrievers – Treble and Princeton.
Workout routine: Elliptical, swimming, long walks with the dogs on the beach.
Philosophical quote: Casey: “It’s the choices that you make that will determine the shape of your life.” Timolin (quoting their father): “Once you can see people respecting you for who you are, then you begin to feel that everything you’ve done has not been done in vain.”
Charity work: They also support Kids Helping Kids and the Delray Full Service Center.
Professional organizations: Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.
