These past few months as mayor have been a great experience for me and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people. I have enjoyed being part of our events, such as our State of the City, Family Fun Day, and our Mayors’ Chess Challenge – just to name a few. If you didn’t have a chance to participate in those, there are still plenty of events you and your family can enjoy.

This month, we have an exciting concert by the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters. They will be performing at the Center for the Arts on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. This event is free, but tickets are required at the door. You can pick up your tickets at the Center for the Arts box office, City Hall or City Hall in the Mall. The band has performed for the president and numerous dignitaries, and we are excited to welcome them to Coral Springs.

Once again, the anticipated Festival of the Arts will be at The Walk at University Drive on March 7 and 8. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and will feature artists, crafters, musical entertainment, literary seminars, chalk artists, a children’s area and more. The children’s area will feature puppet shows, sing-a-longs, and crafts by The Coral Springs Museum of Art. A free trolley is available for those who park at The Coral Springs Center for the Arts. For more information, visit or call 800.739.0516.

Lastly, now is the time to sign up and start training for the Coral Springs Half Marathon on March 28 at 6 a.m. Broward Health Coral Springs will also have their annual Race for Women’s Wellness 5K Run/Walk at 7:30 a.m. Both races will benefit the Broward Health Coral Springs Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, which provides free mammograms to women in our community who financially can’t afford them. Runners and walkers of both the half marathon and 5K will start at the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex on Sportsplex Drive. Prices for adults for the half marathon are $75 and $35 for the Race for Women’s Wellness 5K and $15 for students (19-and-under). Registration closes on March 27 and prices will go up as event nears.
