One hundred years ago, American businessman and philanthropist Charles Deering purchased the Deering Estate at Cutler as a winter home. Now, his former respite is celebrating its 30th year on the National Register of Historic Places. The sprawling sanctuary rests on 444 acres of tropical hardwood hammocks with rustling palms, an incessant cacophony of bird calls and splashing bay water, all of which only emphasized Deering’s interest in preserving the land from encroaching development.

Deering Estate at Cutler has exciting programs lined up for 2016. You can peruse Deering’s collection of historic artwork and furnishings original to the estate or participate in the #DiscoverMore and #OnThisDay campaigns to bolster awareness on the estate’s new look, collection spotlights and upcoming room reveals.

The Deering Estate is located at 16701 SW 72nd Avenue, Miami. For more information, call 305.235.1668 or visit deeringestate.com.
