• Founder of Elite OB/Gyn, Fort Lauderdale

• Director of Women’s Transformational Health Services Florida Medical Center, Lauderdale Lakes

• Director of Robotic Gynecologic Surgery, Boca West Medical Center

Dr. Sam followed in the footsteps of her father, an OB/GYN physician who retired at 76. She graduated with honors, majoring in psychology at the University of Toronto and attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.

Biggest step:
Disillusioned by her medical residency and practices emphasizing quantity of patients, not quality of care, Dr. Sam started a boutique practice, Elite Obstetrics & Gynecology, with a philosophy of building relationships with her patients during a “miraculous” time in their lives. She limits the number of deliveries per month so she can provide 24/7 personal care.

Leaving a dysfunctional marriage to become a dedicated single mother and entrepreneur, Dr. Sam lost 70 pounds pursuing soccer and then triathlons, where she became a top competitor. Improving her life athletically, spiritually and professionally, she became a role model for her patients and son.

“Do unto others” – Humanizing health care by treating patients with respect, concern and understanding – treating the whole woman, not just a “specialty” part of her healthcare.

Giving Back:
American Heart Association, keynote speaker; Women in Distress, board member; Chairperson for Starfish Circle, assisting abused women and children; chairperson and participant in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 2013 Cycle for Life fundraiser.

Recent accomplishment:
Speaker at the World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress. The organization recognized Dr. Sam as a leader in her field.

Next challenge:
At Florida Medical Center, Dr. Sam will help the hospital’s young female CEO, Gabriel Finley-Hazle, building Transformational Women’s Health as a 360-degree view of healthcare, changing the paradigm of segmented medical treatment.

Favorite saying:
“I am honored and grateful for my position! Any day when I am the surgeon, not the patient on the O.R. table, I realize I am blessed!”
