Just call it fashionably late. The Underground Lauderdale Fashion Weekend, which was set to unleash Fort Lauderdale’s stylish side at the end of January, will now run March 30 through April 2.

The plan is the same: Weave fashion, art and New York City-inspired nightlife into a long weekend near the beach. Now based in the FATVillage Arts District, the first annual fashion program will call on big names in the industry as well as emerging local and New York-based designers. Fashion expert Nina Garcia (of Marie Claire and Lifetime’s “Project Runway”) will now host Nicole Miller’s runway show, featuring her bright, Panama-inspired spring 2017 collection, on March 31.

A kick-off reception will be March 30 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton’s Burlock Coast. Renowned party host Susanne Bartsch will close out the event April 1 with a blowout at a warehouse in the Flagler Arts District from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m.

In between, fashion designers will show “See Now, Buy Now” collections in either live model vignette presentations or runway shows. For tickets and a full event schedule, visit undergroundlauderdalefashionweekend.com.

“We realize that the audience that used to be focused in Miami is more spread out across various cities in Florida,” said Ian Gerard, CEO of Syndicate-5 and the event’s producer, in our January issue. “Yes, let’s shine the spotlight on Fort Lauderdale.”
