The city of Coconut Creek’s hometown station, CreekTV, Channel 78 on Comcast, recently held its fourth video contest. This year, there was one basic goal in mind: to bring awareness to the many wonderful nonprofits in our community. This contest was designed to showcase their wonderful work and community outreach, as well as to provide an avenue for local videographers and journalists to display their talents.

Eight participants highlighted seven nonprofits. The participants took part in the official screening at Coconut Creek’s new movie theater, Silverspot Cinema, located in The Promenade. General Manager Jerry Ernst was gracious enough to provide a theater room for the screening, while Krystal Clevenger, manager at Walmart of Coconut Creek, provided the three winning prizes. Representatives and board members from six of the seven featured nonprofits attended the screening. Local resident Vincent Ingrao took first place for his video highlighting Equine Assisted Therapies; Margate resident Trust Yardley placed second with his video for Dreammakers for Life; and Kwanza Henderson of Miami placed third for his video for Tomorrow’s Rainbow.

Overall, the 2016 CreekTV video contest was a success. It helped bring additional awareness to our wonderful nonprofits, as well as give young film students, videographers and journalists a chance to engage the community and showcase their talents. We want to thank all those who participated and also would like to say a big thanks to our nonprofits for directly impacting the quality of life for the city’s many residents!
