SPEND YOUR MILK MONEY
Blaise McMackin, creator of the uber-popular Tap 42, is taking his knowledge of craft cocktails and beers and giving Warsaw Coffee Company a nighttime vibe with Milk Money, which is set to open in June. The coffee shop is being expanded to accommodate what McMackin calls an “evening concept.” Milk Money will not only highlight milk-based alcoholic concoctions but other handcrafted cocktails. Plus, it will cull from Warsaw’s choice beans for liquor-tinged coffee and espresso drinks. Partner Scott Ojeda says everything will be made in-house. “We’ll pickle our own vegetables for cocktail accents, we won’t use any premade mixes,” he says. They’ll even craft their own bitters. CAFÉ MARTORANO’S NEW MENU
Fort Lauderdale’s favorite meatball maker Steve “Yo Cuz” Martorano recently rolled out a new menu at his Oakland Park Boulevard flagship, Café Martorano. The famous Martorano meatballs remain on the menu, but he’s added Italian rice balls, a cheesy deep-fried specialty, as an appetizer. Two new must-try pastas are the spinach tagliolini in a Parmigiano-Reggiano cream sauce and the strozzapreti with cauliflower. Ask “Cuz” the story of strozzapreti, which literally means “priest strangler.” The lore is that a gluttonous priest loved the twisted pasta so much that he choked from consuming too much too fast. We suggest taking your time at Martorano, where everything on the menu is worth savoring. (3343 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 954.561.2554 | cafemartorano.com)

BURGERS WITH BITE
The newly opened B Square Burgers & Booze on Las Olas is adding some flavor to the gourmet burger craze. Expect off-the-chart offerings such as the aptly named McDuck, topped with duck and foie gras, and the Aww Shuck-Its, which gets its moxie from fried oysters, purple caramelized onions and a Gorgonzola cheese cream sauce. The restaurant also has its own take on hot dogs (made from Kobe beef). The big dog at B Square is the Decadent Dog, which is topped with truffle oil, sautéed lobster and garlic butter. A salad bar, wings, subs, main entrées and macro-brew craft beers and cocktails finish off the fare. Can’t decide? Weekend brunch and happy hour specials give a sample of what’s on the robust menu.
