Chefs Up Front Fort Lauderdale

  • Ten of South Florida’s most celebrated chefs will interact with and cook for tables of 10 guests, preparing a five-course dinner with wine pairings. The seventh annual event is hosted by FLIPANY (Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth). Before dinner, there will be a reception with a silent auction, hor d’oeuvres and an open bar. After dinner, guests are invited stick around to mix and mingle. All proceeds will assist FLIPANY in its mission to provide nutritional education, access to healthy food and physical activity to youth in South Florida through the Cooking Matters Program.

Saturday, Aug. 26

Mayweather vs. McGregor fight

  • Former boxing World Champion Floyd Mayweather will square off against former UFC Champion Conor McGregor in the most anticipated fight of the season.
  • When: 9 p.m.
  • Where to watch: Xtreme Action Park will offer open seating on a first-come, first-serve basis at its All American Café and The Pit Bar, which features more than 50 HD TVs. There is no cover and seating at the bar is for ages 18 and over only. Doors open at 7 p.m.
    • VIP Skybox Seating: Features buffet-style dining from 8–10 p.m. and two beer/wine tickets ($35 per person, ages 21 and over).
    • Reserved Seating: Bowling lanes can be reserved for groups up to six people per lane and is open for all ages. Package includes 8 p.m. seating with unlimited bowling, two pizzas, one beer pitcher and hostess service ($50 per person, call 954.491.6265).

Roller Derby match

  • The Gold Coast Derby Grrls All-Stars are up against Melbourne’s Molly Roger Roller Girls. When: 6 p.m.

    sundae. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Crunchy Monkey Peanut Butter Bang was voted the winner. The foundation will receive a $1,500 donation, and its creation will be featured in all Hoffman’s Chocolates stores through Sept. 4.

    • Crunchy Monkey Peanut Butter Bang: Served in a freshly-made waffle bowl half-dipped inchocolate, the over-the-top sundae ($9.95) features three 4 oz. scoops of Hoffman’s signature ice cream:  Banana Cream Pie, a creamy banana ice cream with marshmallow ribbons and baked pie crust; Chocolate Fudge Brownie, a velvety chocolate ice cream filled with moist fudge brownie pieces and chocolate fudge; and Elephant Ears, vanilla ice cream swirled with peanut butter and large chocolate chips. It’s then topped with Hoffman’s rich peanut butter cups and fresh bananas, which are covered in sugar and flambeed to a perfect crisp. The mouthwatering sundae is coated with a smooth caramel sauce and finished off with whipped cream and a cherry on top.

The Habit Burger Grill Offers free burger in fight to help end childhood hunger

  • The Habit Restaurant, Inc. is continuing its commitment to help end childhood hunger in

    America, partnering with No Kid Hungry for a third year. This year, The Habit has a goal of raising $400,000 for a three-year grand total of $1,000,000. This would provide 10 million meals to children who face hunger. All eight Florida locations will participate in the charity partnership. The Habit will be collecting donations for No Kid Hungry, and diners who donate $2 or more to the No Kid Hungry campaign will receive a certificate for a Charburger with cheese, which can be redeemed through the end of September.
