As a resident of Coral Springs for the last 30 years, I have had the privilege of raising my family here. Coral Springs has grown to become one of the most desirable communities in South Florida, with excellent schools, premier recreational parks and facilities, and aesthetically appealing neighborhoods. I am honored to have been elected as the mayor of this fine city and I look forward to what 2015 has in store. I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season.

I’m excited to be part of the city’s annual Teen Political Forum. High school students are invited to come and ask anything that’s on their mind. Elected officials, including myself, as well as school board members will answer your questions. This will be my first time as a panelist and I’m looking forward to what the students will ask. It all takes place at the Center for the Arts. For all the details, visit www.CoralSprings.org/tpf. Hope to see you there!

Then, on February 7, we’re hosting a Family Fun Day and Car Show at Downtown Coral Springs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free and there will be music, food trucks, vendors, bounce houses and entertainment. There will be a nominal fee for some of the activities. Cost to pre-register a vehicle is $15 or $20 on the day of the event. All vehicles, including trucks and motorcycles are welcome to register. For more information, call 954.345.2119.

I want to take the time to invite our residents to our annual State of the City on February 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Center for the Arts. The city will highlight its accomplishments over the past year, thank its volunteers and end the night with a memorable performance by The Landsharks. The event is free to Coral Springs residents and tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at City Hall and City Hall in the Mall. You can also expect your copy of the city’s annual report in the mail sometime this month. For more information, visit www.CoralSprings.org.

If you would like to meet with me to discuss any city issues, feel free to visit with me during my office hours. To view my scheduled monthly hours, visit www.CoralSprings.org/events.
