Wynwood Walls reopens

South Floridians can once again trek to Miami to take selfies and Instagram-worthy photos in front of the world-famous Wynwood Walls. The world’s largest outdoor street art museum at the Wynwood Arts District reopens Dec. 18 in partnership with the Wynwood Business Improvement District.

To keep visitors safe, masks and social distancing will be required. Wynwood Walls will also implement a timed ticketed system with tickets being offered for free from Dec. 18 to Jan. 18 thanks to support from Wynwood BID. Ticket fees will begin Jan. 19.

The opening is a promising sign for Wynwood’s artistic and business scenes. The shuttering of Wynwood Walls correlated with the closing of many arts events during the pandemic. The BID partnership allows the attraction to jumpstart its return as a highlight of Miami’s art landscape.

“Since its inception in 2009, the Wynwood Walls has welcomed millions of local, national and international visitors free of charge. The Wynwood Walls has influenced the growth of a neighborhood and the birth of one of the largest art movements in modern history. The scope of impact cannot be measured. With the onset of the pandemic, like many others, we were forced to close our doors. During that time, we have reimagined a Wynwood Walls 2.0 version to further our desire to create an artistic oasis in an urban core, pushing the boundaries of art, programming and education, while making safety protocols a top priority,” said Jessica Goldman Srebnick, CEO of Goldman Properties and curator of the Wynwood Walls. “In partnership with the Wynwood BID, together, we cannot wait to welcome back the community to enjoy the glorious open air art museum we all know and love, while we usher in new experiences for 2021.”

Visitors will enter through NW Second Avenue, also known as Tony Goldman Way, and are invited to explore over 50 original murals by world-renowned artists. Some of these artists include Buff Monster, Dan Kitchner, Ernesto Maranje, Dasic Fernandez, Faile, Kelsey Montague, Kenny Scharf, Martha Cooper, Mina Hamada, and Tats Cru. In addition, both the 10-year retrospective show and eL Seed solo show presented by the GGA Gallery will be open to Wynwood Walls ticket holders. The Wynwood Walls Shop remains open to the public through the 26th Street entrance where visitors can find a curated collection of gifts, books, prints and product collaborations inspired by artists, including Ron English, Queen Andrea, and Tristan Eaton.
