Older adults are living longer and as the U.S. population ages, more and more people are handling long-term care planning for themselves or their loved ones. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, there’s a 70 percent chance that a person retiring today at 65 will need long term care services for the remainder of their lifetime. Long Term Care (LTC) is defined as daily assistance with basic functions of life, such as eating, bathing, and dressing.

When someone becomes physically or cognitively impaired, they often require LTC, and the likelihood of needing long-term care services increase with age: 21% of individuals use personal savings to pay for services, while 11.6% rely on LTC insurance. The rest of LTC is paid for by Medicare and Medicaid and 62.2% of individuals receiving LTC utilize Medicaid.

Knowing the great needs faced by older adults, as a non-profit organization and leading Case Management and Home Care Services Provider proudly serving older adults (ages 60+), disabled adults (ages 18-59), and family caregivers for 50 years in Miami-Dade County, United HomeCare® has expanded into Broward County joining forces with Broward Elderly Services and Long Term Care (LTC) Managed Care Providers to enhance and bring added value services and home and community based services for Broward’s older adults and help them age with dignity while remaining living at home independently for as long as possible.
