Sawgrass Mills Holds Competition to Name the Panthers Gator

The winner received a $1,000 shopping spree and two tickets to a Florida Panthers game.

Sawgrass Mills has partnered with the Florida Panthers to offer South Floridians the opportunity to participate in The Ultimate Panthers Gator Naming Contest. The property has housed the iconic alligator statues for over a decade and recently revealed its new appearance in celebration of the hockey team’s recent Stanley Cup championship.

Shoppers and hockey enthusiasts have the opportunity to participate by taking a selfie and entering along with their best gator names online at flapanthers.co/gator by Sept. 23. The grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 shopping spree at Sawgrass Mills and two tickets to a Florida Panthers hockey game.

“We’re thrilled to showcase the Panthers jersey on one of the iconic alligator statues at Sawgrass Mills,” says Panthers Chief Marketing Officer Lauren Cochran. “This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with our fans in South Florida and we’re excited to see the creative photos and gator names the community come up with.”

Sawgrass Mills recently unveiled the new gator design, which showcased a blue and red Florida Panthers hockey jersey. During the event, Stanley C. Panther, the Panthers’ mascot, along with the City of Sunrise Mayor, city dignitaries and Panthers COO Bryce Hollweg, were also present to join in the celebration.

“Sawgrass Mills is thrilled to celebrate the Florida Panthers’ Stanley Cup victory with our favorite gator,” says David Gott, General Manager of Sawgrass Mills. “Our guests love shopping for the latest Panthers gear at our stores, so it’s a perfect match to let fans name our gator and join in the fun of this huge sports milestone. We’re excited to share this celebration with our entire community!”
