Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo Returning to South Florida

The show will last from July 11 to July 21 at Amerant Bank Arena.

Corteo, a truly unique and enchanting arena production from Cirque du Soleil, is set to captivate audiences as it makes its way to Sunrise next month. Directed by the visionary Daniele Finzi Pasca, this one-of-a-kind production made its debut in Montreal in April 2005 and has since left a trail of awe and wonder, mesmerizing over 10 million spectators across 20 countries and four continents. Don’t miss this limited 12-show run at the Amerant Bank Arena from July 11 to 21, 2024.

Corteo, derived from the Italian word ‘cortege,’ is a cheerful procession and a lively parade conceptualized by a clown. The production combines the actor’s enthusiasm with the elegance and strength of the acrobat to immerse the audience in an entertaining, humorous, and spontaneous theatrical realm set in an enigmatic space between heaven and earth.

The clown envisions his funeral in a lively carnival ambiance under the watchful eyes of serene, caring angels. By blending the grand with the minute, the absurd with the sorrowful, and the allure of flawlessness with the appeal of imperfection, the performance showcases the clown’s resilience and vulnerability, as well as his insight and compassion, to portray the humanity that resides in us all. The music becomes whimsical and light-hearted, guiding Corteo through an ageless revelry where fantasy playfully intertwines with reality.

The stage for Corteo is positioned at the center of the arena, creating a division within the venue, with each half of the audience facing the other. This unique setup provides a different perspective of the show, offering a performer’s eye view of the audience. It creates an atmosphere never before seen in Cirque du Soleil arena shows. The set curtains, drawing inspiration from the Eiffel Tower and hand-painted central curtains, contribute to the grand ambiance of the stage, setting the tone for the poetic performance of Corteo.
