Coming Up Tails

You don’t need a subscription to Disney+ to catch mermaid princesses in action at B Ocean Resort. But there is aquatic entertainment for the family—and for the 21 and older crowd—at the famed Wreck Bar inside the oceanfront property on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

The resort that’s been known for its mermaid shows since it opened in 1956 recently announced an expansion of its underwater performances.

  • Mermaid Elle & Friends: World-renowned mermaid Elle Jimenez leads her fellow sea-dwelling friends in a Saturday afternoon show (at noon) that includes lunch, friendly pirates—and a photo opp with Elle before the performance.
  • Mermaid Aqua Burlesque Show: These adults-only shows, produced by MeduSirena, run every Friday night (8:30 p.m.) and Saturdays at 8:30 and 11 p.m. Admission ($60-plus) includes a $45 credit toward food and beverages.
  • Aquamen Underwater Boylesque Show: The only underwater male burlesque show in the United States happens every other Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

In addition, mermaids swim in the background during Sunday brunch (from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and B Ocean Resort also offers personalized mermaid experiences for special events. Visit bhotelsandresorts.com/b-ocean-resort and click on “Mermaid Shows at the Wreck Bar” for ticket info.
