Cuba Libre Looks to Fill 30 Positions

Restaurants throughout the tri-county region continue to raise the incentive stakes in their ongoing quest to fill employment needs. The latest example is Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar, the recently opened Fort Lauderdale spot that provides “an escape to Havana” through its cuisine and cocktails.

Cuba Libre, which debuted April 1, is hoping to fill 30 hourly positions—from server and sous chef to butcher and busboy—as it approaches the launch of its weekend brunch service on June 26. To that end, the restaurant is offering increased hourly wages, various bonuses, and other enticements.

Among the incentives: First-year welcome bonuses totaling $250; additional $600 bonuses for each new recruit referred; free Spanish/English as second language lessons; job and social skills training programs; and free shift meals. On the bonus front, Cuba Libre is even offering to help employees start/add an investment portfolio with the option of receiving bonuses in cryptocurrency. There’s also a tuition reimbursement program for completion of a personal finance course at Broward College.

“We are seeking qualified personnel to join our diverse team in Fort Lauderdale and are proud to provide these incentives to attract the best team members for our newest location,” says Barry Gutin, principal and co-founder, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar.

Interested applicants can apply in person at Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar (800 E. Las Olas Blvd.), from noon to 4 p.m., seven days a week. Applicants are welcome to bring their children to avoid the expense of childcare. Applicants can also apply online and expect to be contacted within 24 hours to schedule an interview.
