Self-promotion isn’t something that I’ve ever been comfortable doing, especially when it comes to charitable service. For me, the act of giving, of supporting an organization that selflessly helps our community members in need, always has been reward enough. I prefer to be a trusted partner, but a partner who stays in the background and out of the spotlight.

But sometimes, at the request of one of the more than dozen nonprofit organizations supported by my company, College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving, we’re asked to step into that spotlight.

Recently, the city commission of Cooper City recognized the efforts of several members of my team for the small part we played in assisting residents of the Bahamas whose lives were turned upside down by Hurricane Dorian. My staff and I helped to transport thousands of pounds of desperately needed food and products, part of a relief effort in which many others participated.

We certainly were humbled by the recognition and grateful to the city commission for acknowledging our efforts. But that’s not why our Hollywood-based company gives back. At College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving, charity speaks to something much deeper. It’s one of the foundational building blocks of our business; over the years, we’ve helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local nonprofits.

With that in mind, I would be remiss not to thank my circle of trust—my family, friends and mentors, people who set their own benevolent example, who support our efforts, and who, when needed, remind us of our core values.

Lastly, I have to thank my wife, Jackie—she’s my conscience, my guide and my life. None of this would be possible without you.

Now, it’s time to get back to work and MOVE THE WORLD!
