Art, Identity, and the Power to Begin Again

Meet the Couple Redefining Tattoos, Removals and Second Chances

Lisandra Chaviano and her husband, Amaury Ramírez, have created something rare: two studios under one roof that honor both the art of tattooing and the choice to let go of ink that no longer fits. Together, they offer a full-circle approach to self-expression that blends artistry with science.

Amaury opened Bad Habits Tattoos in 2013 with the intention of elevating what a tattoo studio could be. “Fort Lauderdale has such a deep tattoo culture, and that’s one of the things we love most about being here,” he says. As a family-owned business, he wanted to create an environment grounded in trust and personal connection, shaped by more than twenty years of experience as a tattoo artist.

At the same time, Lisandra was working in radiologic technology at a local hospital, developing the expertise that would eventually transform their shared path. “My background gave me a deep understanding of how light, energy, and tissue interact, which is the foundation of laser science,” she explains. “Every millimeter mattered, not just technically but emotionally.”

But something was missing. “I wanted to use my skills in a way that gave me more personal connection with people and more freedom in my life,” she says. Amaury encouraged her to step into something new. “He saw how my medical background could bring something completely new to the industry and really believed in the vision before I did.”

In 2018, the couple launched BH Laser. His artistic insight informs her removal strategies, and her clinical understanding of skin sharpens his work. Together, they understand the full life cycle of a tattoo, from the moment someone chooses it to the moment they decide to begin again.

Inside BH Laser

Their Fort Lauderdale studio, now one of two BH Laser locations, features white walls, glossy floors, touches of gold, velvet seating, and lush greenery. It feels serene and elevated. “The space is bright, modern, and meticulously clean, more like a luxury studio than what people imagine when they think of a tattoo shop,” Lisandra says. “Each room was created to give clients their own private environment where they can relax and feel completely at ease.”

Technology is the backbone of their results. Lisandra uses the Astanza Trinity laser system. “It combines three powerful wavelengths, allowing us to target and remove all ink colors safely and effectively,” she explains. “Most lasers only have one or two wavelengths, which means they struggle with certain pigments. The Trinity eliminates that limitation.” She takes comfort just as seriously. “We use a state-of-the-art cooling system that dramatically reduces heat and discomfort. Because of my medical background, I take pain management very seriously.”

Tattoo removal is a highly personalized process. “Costs and the number of sessions can vary depending on the size, colors, and depth of the tattoo, as well as the client’s skin type,” she says. “Most tattoos require between six to ten sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart, though some fade beautifully in fewer.” BH Laser begins with a free consultation and transparent pricing, with financing options through CareCredit and Afterpay. “It is a true medical-grade laser system, designed for precision and safety,” she adds.

Their menu of services extends far beyond tattoo removal. BH Laser specializes in permanent makeup removal, scalp micropigmentation removal, sun and age spot correction, and carbon laser facials, which have become a client favorite before special events.

Rewrite Your Story

Their commitment to transformation deepens through their Rewrite Your Story program, which offers free tattoo removal for individuals seeking a fresh start. “We started it to help people remove visible tattoos that might be holding them back from job opportunities, military service, or simply a new chapter,” she says. One client needed face and neck tattoos removed before joining the military. “We worked with him through the full process until every tattoo was gone. Today, he is proudly serving and using his story to inspire others.”

Education and the Future

Education is another cornerstone of BH Laser. “Too many people are buying lasers without fully understanding skin biology, wavelengths, or safety protocols,” she explains. She trains practitioners to ensure safer, more informed work across the industry. “Laser technology is constantly advancing, and staying ahead is something we take very seriously.”

She believes the future of lasers reaches far beyond aesthetics. “I see lasers being used not just for correction, but for restoration, helping the body heal itself at a cellular level.”

For Lisandra and Amaury, the motivation remains simple. “Seeing both locations thrive and being able to help so many people together has been one of the most fulfilling parts of our journey.”
