MAD Arts will host world-renowned designer David Carson for a two-night exhibition highlighting his most recent collage of artworks during an exhibit titled XHBTN: The Art + Grafik Design of David Carson. Each night receptions will have Carson conducting meet and greets with attendees. It will coincide with Art Basel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 at MAD Arts, 481 S. Federal Hwy, Dania Beach. The XHBTN: The Art + Grafik Design of David Carson exhibit will be free and open to the public through Jan. 15, 2022.
Carson was recognized as “one of America’s most important artists” by Smithsonian Institute Magazine. This special engagement will highlight Carson’s most recent collage work, some of which is featured in his sold-out book, nu collage.001. The collages consist of formal and abstract explorations between graphic design elements from his work and different materials that Carson finds in his everyday life. The exhibition also features elements of his series “The Wave is Coming,” which explores the opportunities for riding the wave of life. Other works on view will include his iconic magazine cover designs for Transworld Skateboarding, Beach Culture, Surfer Magazine and Ray Gun.
