Decrypted – Phrases Realtors Use to Sell

Secure, private, retreat.  You’re safe from Corona.

Price Reduction.  Seller priced it too high, was already told this by their Realtor in the first place, and is now finally willing to listen.

Location, Location, Location.  You’re paying more to live here.

Cash only or As-Is.  House is not going to appraise or is in such bad shape, no one will insure it, so no lender is going to loan you money to buy this one.

Curb-Appeal.  House sucks but at least the landscaping is awesome or it’s in a good location.

Charming, Cozy, Dollhouse.  Small cramped and tiny but great décor to make up for it.

Custom Built, Unique.  Seller has weird and very personal taste; hope you like mint green kitchens and carpeted walls.

Good Bones.  Good bones but bad acne.  It has some good features going for it, but you may have to put time and money in.

Vintage, Retro  Step back in time McFly to see something really outdated.

Rustic.  Unprofessionally constructed and poorly maintained.

Ugly House, Great Potential, Needs TLC, Investment, Fixer-Upper.  Property needs serious work so bring your architect, engineer, and contractors.

Updated.  Does not mean renovated; maybe a new kitchen countertop was added and paint splashed on the walls.

Well-Maintained, Original Details.  Home’s interior badly needs a renovation, but at least the a/c, electric, plumbing, and roof are doing well.

Buyer to verify permits.  Lots of code violations and illegal work.

Turnkey, Move-In-Ready.  House has all the fixin’s, pack up, turn the key, and move in, because there is nothing else for you to do but furnish and decorate.

Up and Coming.  Neighborhood stinks now, but after you move in it will get better.

Motivated Seller, Priced to Sell.  Seller is financially desperate and needs to sell ASAP.

Hidden Gem.  Has potential for the right buyer but needs some work to get there.

Built-ins.  Hope you like the cabinets and bookshelves because they won’t be easy to rip out.

Natural landscaping.  No landscaping at all.  Property is overgrown with wildflowers that needs clearing, grazing, and organizing.

I’ll let you know if they have further interest.  What buyer’s agent says when buyers don’t have any interest.

Great Starter Home. Buy here until you can afford something better.
