Duty and Honor

Four members of the Pinecrest Police Department were honored at the annual MADD awards dinner held on May 27.

Officer Edison Cruz received the “Officer William Craig Memorial DRE” award for his excellence and commitment to enforcing DUI statutes. Cruz had 103 DUI arrests during 2014.

Officer Shirley Verde received the “Enforcement Award of Honor” for her dedication to MADD’s cause, making our roads safer from drunk drivers. Verde stopped an impaired driver who was driving the wrong way on U.S. 1 on March 1, preventing an incident that could have caused multiple fatalities.

Chief Samuel Ceballos Jr. and Lt. Derrick Bowman were also honored for their dedication to DUI enforcement. They both received the “Recognition of Distinction” award.
