Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary’s 58th Annual Gala, “Epicurean Escapade 2014: A Food & Wine Experience”

THE EVENT  Epicurean Escapade will feature themed presentations of gourmet food and fine wine from exciting global culinary destinations such as Argentina, Italy, Greece and New Orleans. Guests can indulge in full plates of delectable cuisine and generous pairings of a wide variety of wines while enjoying a fun evening of dancing and live musical entertainment by the Jerry Wayne Party Band. The event’s honorees are Alice and Mike Jackson, chairman and chief executive officer of AutoNation, Inc.

“More than 400 community leaders, physicians, healthcare professionals and guests will be joining us for an evening of incredible food and wine, genuine friendship and lots of fun,” says Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary President Maxine Holzworth. “Since the Auxiliary’s formation in 1956, we have raised more than $12 million to support the hospital’s community healthcare initiatives, including the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.”

During the event, Holy Cross physicians will be recognized for their exceptional, compassionate care, including Dr. Kenneth Homer, who is serving as the event’s honorary physician host along with his wife Vicki.

THE CAUSE  The event benefits the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex, a new 55,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility where women receive excellent medical care in a soothing, spa-like environment. One of the community services offered at the Women’s Center is the Partners in Breast Health program, which provides education, screenings and diagnostics to African American and Hispanic women in Broward County who are underserved or uninsured. More than 1,600 women have been served by the program since it began in 2011, and more than 50 percent of patients diagnosed with breast cancer have been under the age of 50, exceeding national statistical data. “The program facilitates access to breast health care for women who don’t have other resources,” says Holy Cross Director of Community Outreach Kim Saiswick.

TICKETS  Tickets are $225 per person. For more information, call 954.229.8562 or email [email protected].

THE SPONSORS  Event sponsors include title sponsor AutoNation, the Guerrieri Family Foundation as the event’s presenting sponsor, and platinum sponsors JM Family, Sodexo and the Medical Staff of Holy Cross.
