Hooters of Boca Raton honors nurses

Hooters of Boca RatonNational Nurses Week has been celebrated since 1990 when the American Nurses Association expanded its May 6 National Nurses Day. With the COVID-19 pandemic, many in the country, perhaps more people than ever since the week was established, are taking the time to honor the nurses in the trenches of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hooters of Boca Raton included. Recently, the location joined alumni from the University of Central Florida and Hooters customers Gordon Miranda and Gary Marlar to feed 26 nurses in four nursing units on May 4 at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Hooters Girls Gianna Tulio and Felicia Patrick delivered the dinners to Bina Wagjiani, Director of Office of Patient Experience at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

The latest effort was Hooters’ follow up to another partnership with UCF alumni. In late April, Hooters of Boca Raton’s managing partner Chris Torelli partnered with college friends Paul Fermo, Todd Guiley and Mike Hinn to provide 25 meals to the doctors and nurses in the COVID-19 unit at the hospital.

“The outpouring of support from friends and customers has been nothing short of amazing,” Torelli said. “Hooters of Boca Raton will continue to do what we can to let these incredible nurses, doctors and healthcare workers know we are fortunate to have them in our community.”
