Seize the Day

Don’t have time to break away for an extended staycation? No worries. Thanks to an inspired Miami-based marketplace, it’s possible to disconnect for a few hours—and do so at some of South Florida’s premier luxury resorts.

That’s the general idea behind Daycation, an online marketplace that also offers “bite-sized” escapes at high-end hotels around the globe, including destinations in Curaçao, Greece, Aruba, Bahamas and Costa Rica. Locally, founder Matt Boney has partnered with a variety of world-class properties—among them, SLS South Beach, Kimpton Epic Hotel Miami, Royal Palm South Beach Miami, and Como Metropolitan Miami Beach—giving Daycation travelers access to amenities at those hotels.

That means specially priced day passes (with pool, gym, and spa access), and even day beds or cabanas, at the likes of Fontainebleau Miami Beach without having to spend the night. Or, in the case of JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, it means a day membership (starting at $65) for Tidal Cove—the sprawling upscale water park with slides (and a surfing simulator) for thrill-seekers, a separate kids’ zone, a lazy river, and light bites and cocktails at Surf House Bar & Grill.

Check out daycationapp.com to see the complete list of participating resorts.
