In Store Style: StyleNest

In-laws don’t always hit it off, but when it works, it works – and that was just the case for Paula and Laurie Newlands, the duo behind the designer-inspired boutique: StyleNest. Both gals grew up in South Florida and even though neither was born here, they love the perks that the Sunshine State offers.

Paula is a former model and has traveled the world working for top designers, while Laurie’s background is in marketing and public relations. Naturally the pair’s combined talents and life experiences lend themselves well to running a bustling store catering to international style, celebrity looks, and designer runway trends.

Nestled just one block from the beach, this stylish little shop is a popular spot for tourists and locals – and it’s also available for VIP parties. StyleNest proves that fashion is never one-sided, especially when sisters-in-law are running the show, so grab a few trendy tips from these two local fashionistas.

Are there any trends you’re obsessed with this season?

P: I’m a crop top kind of girl, so you’ll definitely catch me sporting the trend. I would also like to try the tea length skirt! Though a tough one to pull off, it’s very fashion forward this season.

L: Yes, pastels. I love pastels! The great thing about this trend is that you can pick whichever pastel looks best on you. The sky’s the limit.

Which fad will you never give in to?

P: You will never catch me in acid washed jeans, Crocs or heel-less shoes.

L: Super cropped tops. Just not me…

What is the most worn thing in your closet?

P: My Balenciaga inspired bag from StyleNest!

L: My camel/brown color block bag from StyleNest. It’s such a great bag and the perfect size for me. I wear it with anything – and it works.

Aside from Stylenest, which local shops do you frequent?

P: When I’m not browsing Nordstrom Racks’ discounted designer shoes, I’m likely to be found at Croissan’ Time grabbing a delicious French pastry with friends.

L: Cathi’s – she has great little trinkets and gifts. If you love anything monogrammed, she has a great selection!

Share your number one fashion tip.

P: Show skin strategically! One body part at a time, otherwise where’s the mystery?

L: Get inspired, be different, but stay you.

Best way to look cool, even when it’s crazy hot outside?

P: A flowing dress. Whether mini, midi, or maxi, you’re sure to remain cool.

L: Cute denim cutoff shorts and a light floral blouse. Throw on your favorite sunglasses and flats and you’re ready to go!
