Summer’s Not Over Yet

Here's your bucket-list roundup of breezy escapes, wild encounters, and local adventures for every kind of summer seeker.

Squeeze every last drop out of summer with these local favorites before the season slips away. Unwind under the palms at Riverwalk Linear Park, cast a line off the Dania Beach Pier, or finally visit Flamingo Gardens—where panthers, peacocks, and flamingos await. Catch sunrise vibes with beachfront yoga or cool off with high-speed thrills at Ski Rixen USA’s cable park and floating obstacle course. The clock’s ticking—make these sunny days count.

Riverwalk Linear Park

Grab your favorite book and your Yeti filled with something ice cold and park in the gazebo or on a bench and chill out. If you get the urge to move, take a stroll along the New River and check out the connecting parks, museums, and restaurants. Visit goriverwalk.com.

Fish at the Dania Beach Pier

Ocean Park Beach offers direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway; here, you’ll find the Dania Beach Pier—one of only three fishing piers in Broward County—along with the Dania Beach municipal marina, Frank C. “Tootie” Adler Park (playground and shelter), the FAU SeaTech campus, park facilities and two restaurants. Visit DaniaBeachFL.gov.

Flamingo Gardens

You’ve probably driven past it a thousand times, but if you’ve never actually visited Flamingo Gardens, now is the time. The nearly 100-year-old botanical gardens has some of the largest collections of orchids, cycads, heliconias and gingers in the U.S. and more than 3,000 species of rare and exotic, tropical and subtropical and native plants and trees. Its Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary is home to permanently injured or non-releasable native wildlife, including alligators, bobcats, otters, panthers, peacocks, and, of course, flamingos. Visit flamingogardens.org.

Sunrise Yoga on the Beach

Commit to starting your summer days off right: Fort Lauderdale Beach Yoga & Fitness is all about it. Saturdays, try the Rise & Shine Experience on the main beach; Sundays go for the Soul Flow Experience. Monthly experiences include Yoga & Sound Healing on the Veranda of the Bonnet House Museum on July 18 and August 22, a 90-minute-long gift you need to give yourself. Afterwards, grab a snack and a drink from the café and explore the grounds. Get your tickets at bonnethouse.org.

Ski Rixen USA in Deerfield Beach

Paddleboard, kneeboard—whatever you choose to do here, you won’t be bored. Regardless of age or skill level, you’ll have a wild-on-the water day here, at the first cable park in the country which has been in business since 1983. There’s also a Wibit Aquapark where kids can jump, climb, slide and balance their way around an on-the-water obstacle course, and a marina where you can rent kayaks, paddle boats and more.
