The Diplomat Beach Resort Champions Eco-Innovation this Earth Week

The Diplomat Beach Resort deepens its pledge to protect marine life, foster sustainable travel, and nurture a healthier planet.

The Diplomat Beach Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton’s commitment to the environment is as expansive as its ocean views. It’s a commitment that extends into the daily operations, as well as brought to life through on-property educational partnerships with the Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) and Ocean Rescue Alliance International (ORAI)—designed to engage guests and inspire the next generation of ocean advocates. This Earth Week, The Diplomat Beach Resort deepens its pledge to protect marine life, foster sustainable travel, and nurture a healthier planet.

Making Waves with Ocean Rescue Alliance International (ORAI)

Launching this week, The Diplomat Beach Resort’s new Kids’ Club programming (created in partnership with ORAI) invites young guests to dive into hands-on, eco-friendly activities that spark curiosity and deepen their connection to the ocean. From sculpting reef structures with non-toxic clay to engaging in marine-themed arts and crafts, each experience is thoughtfully designed to inspire future ocean advocates while minimizing waste through reusable materials and plastic-free practices.

This initiative is part of The Diplomat’s ongoing commitment to ORAI, supported by a $30,000 donation that underscores the resort’s dedication to marine conservation. Additionally, the resort introduced “Cocktails for Coral,” a fundraising program that donates $1 from every Coral Reef Cooler sold—crafted with Gray Whale Gin, local tangerine, and Fever-Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer—at The Hotel Bar. The partnership will soon make an even bigger splash with the installation of an artificial reef sculpture with shared efforts from The City of Hollywood, scheduled for later this spring.

Inspiring Marine Stewardship with Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC)

Through the partnership with MEEC at Nova Southeastern University—a leading institution for sea turtle research and coastal conservation—The Diplomat Beach Resort is advancing marine awareness through impactful sea turtle education and guest engagement. Just minutes from the resort, MEEC offers hands-on experiences like meet-and-greets with rescued sea turtles and immersive learning sessions that inspire both guests and team members to become passionate stewards of the sea.

Everyday Excellence in Sustainability

In alignment with Hilton’s Travel with Purpose and the LightStay programs, the resort is proud to champion sustainability—not just during Earth Week, but all year long. Sustainable practices are ingrained into every facet of resort life with the goals of helping redefine responsible travel and achieve a net-zero future. The resort’s initiatives include:

  • Energy-efficient lighting and equipment
  • Water-saving fixtures and landscaping
  • Recycling programs for food and soap
  • Plastic reduction measures such as bulk amenities
  • Comprehensive sustainability training for team members

The Diplomat Beach Resort is shrinking its environmental footprint with:

  • Reduction of carbon emissions equivalent to 5,484 cars off the road
  • Reduction of reduced water equivalent to 70 Olympic swimming pools
  • Reduction of energy equivalent to 4,747 houses powered

Team Member Activations: Earth Week at The Diplomat Beach Resort

Environmental consciousness is deeply embedded in The Diplomat Beach Resort’s culture. During Earth Week, resort team members will participate in a series of experiences designed to give back to the environment and nurture personal well-being, including:

  • Beach Cleanup: Helping preserve the local shoreline for guests, sea life, and the surrounding community.
  • Team Member Beach Yoga: Encouraging wellness and mindfulness through a nature-connected practice by the ocean.

Through innovation, education, and meaningful partnerships, The Diplomat Beach Resort continues to lead with purpose—protecting the beauty of the coast while inviting guests of all ages to become part of the solution.
