My Coconut Creek

The City of Coconut Creek has launched a new online portal to enhance community engagement. Speak Up Coconut Creek is a moderated website designed to encourage citizen ideas, utilizing a social platform. Through one easy to use interface, residents can post ideas, vote and comment on ideas, share input, and discuss Coconut Creek’s future. Residents can suggest a new service, a service improvement, or provide other recommendations through the forum.

Coconut Creek residents and business owners are encouraged to sign up for Speak Up Coconut Creek at www.speakupcoconutcreek.net. The first topic that is open for discussion is Windmill Park renovations. The city is asking for comments and suggestions on preferred upgrades. They are also conducting a CreekTV survey on the site.

“Speak Up Coconut Creek provides another way for us to facilitate community dialogue,” stated Yvonne Lopez, Community Relations Director. “All subject matters will be reviewed and answered by city staff.”

Residents can ‘like’ an idea, which allows the city to determine which topics are of broad community interest. As users post ideas, they will receive a confirmation email and from that point on, they will be able to track the progress of their idea every time they log on. Ideas and comments can also be shared on Facebook and Twitter.

Social Roundup

Residents, businesses, and friends of Coconut Creek should join the close to 2,000 City of Coconut Creek followers on Facebook to learn of city events, initiatives, and projects. Typically, one to two messages and/or pics are posted daily; so the most current information can be found on Facebook. During Government Week, over 20 short videos were uploaded to showcase the roles of city employees. Risk Manager Sanjeev Bissessar’s video received the most hits at 452! The page also offers numerous contests such as best video, best photo, and trivia guesses. The winner usually receives a sporty Creek visor! Like us at www.coconutcreek.net/facebook.

Patricia L. Duaybes shared with City of Coconut Creek Twitter followers her top 10 reasons why she loves living in Coconut Creek (seen above). Visit the city’s Twitter and share your reasons why you love living in Coconut Creek with hashtag #mycoconutcreek.
