CITY ELECTION – MARCH 10

At the end of the candidate qualifying period, which took place from January 5 through January 12, Commissioner Rebecca (Becky) Tooley (District A) and Commissioner Louis Sarbone (District D) were re-elected unopposed for a four-year term of office ending in March 2019.

However, an election will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, to fill the remaining term of office for the vacant commission seat in District E. The two candidates who qualified for District E are:  Steve Thomas Harrison and Joshua David Rydell.

Voting in the city is at large, which means that all qualified voters of the city whose names appear in the Broward County Supervisor of Elections registration books are eligible to vote.  The last day to register to vote for the election is February 9.

Early voting is not available for this election; however, absentee voting will be permitted through the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office, and completed absentee ballots must be received at their office.  Please visit their website, www.browardsoe.org, for additional information regarding registering to vote, obtaining an absentee ballot or to check your precinct.

The re-elected and newly-elected commissioners are scheduled to be sworn into office at the city commission meeting on March 12.  At that meeting, pursuant to the City Charter, the annual election of the Mayor and Vice Mayor will also take place.

The polling places will be open on March 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A list of the precinct numbers and polling places in Coconut Creek is below.

Inquiries regarding the Election should be made to City Clerk Leslie Wallace May at 954.973.6774 or [email protected].
