The Olympic Games weren’t the only exciting thing to come out of Brazil this year. Entrepreneur Renata Facchini has introduced Liquido to South Florida, with a boutique at 1937 Harrison St. in Hollywood (754.263.2546). It’s the first U.S. outpost for the highly sought-after active-wear designer.
Liquido began in 2001 in Sao Paulo and quickly generated buzz in the fashion world. In 2009, having developed a passion for yoga, Facchini discovered Liquido’s soft, lightweight, high-stretch and vibrant pieces. She decided to invest in the company, and it soon gained an even larger cult following.
“I was searching for something that could handle the sweat and range of motion required in yoga,” says Facchini, who also is a yoga instructor. “Everything I tried was either too restrictive, lost its shape or was just ugly. When I tried Liquido pants, I knew I had found the perfect solution.”
Liquido’s colorful pieces continue to grow in popularity, gracing the bodies of Brazil’s most fashionable yogis, runners and more—which is why Facchini thought it was time to enter the U.S. market. “We bring the vibrant colors and soul of Brazilian fashion, combined with premium quality, at affordable prices,” she says.
As for the decision of where to launch, Facchini says South Florida was a no-brainer. “The name Liquido is derived from water, which is essential to life, so this area felt like a natural fit,” she says. “Hollywood [specifically] appealed to us because of the strong influence of arts and culture, as well as the strong yoga community.”
Liquido’s boutique approach sits well with customers who gravitate to the Young Circle area. The store carries limited-edition print leggings, which have been known to sell out as soon as a new pattern is released, as well as Liquido’s performance wear, swimsuit collection and a selection of mala bead necklaces. Even better for South Florida, all leggings and swimwear pieces offer 50-plus UVA/UVB protection and are quick-drying. Visit liquidoactive.com for information.
