Achievement Centers for Children and Families reaches out

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, South Florida organizations that make it their mission to help the community have stepped up with even more initiatives to help those struggling.

One center completing its mission to help the community is Achievement Centers for Children and Families in Delray Beach, which serves more than 900 children and families in three Delray Beach locations through summer camps, early learning and afterschool programs.

The organization partnered with restaurants and community agencies such as 3rd and 3rd, Caesar’s Famous Ribs and FLIPANY to launch a meal program on March 23 for families in its Family Strengthening Program. Through drive-through pick-up sites—at its Nancy K. Hurd Campus, the Morton Downey Family Resource Center Campus, Pine Grove Elementary School and Village Academy—ACCF has served more than 3,500 meals so far. For Easter, families deserved a special treat with their meals: 250 chocolate bunnies from Kilwins Chocolate of Delray Beach. According to ACCF, the meals help feed families with children over 18 not served by the school district’s meal program.

In addition to the meal program, ACCF has answered the call for help during the pandemic and is also aiding families during this time including donating grocery bags, providing essentials, offering virtual storytime, and offering financial guidance.

“The demand for our services is greater than ever and we have launched new initiatives to keep up with these needs, while pulling together as a community,” says ACCF CEO Stephanie Seibel.  “Our partners and supporters have been instrumental in our efforts to serve meals for over 200 families each week, all while supporting local restaurants and their employees.”
