About the piece: This 48-inch by 72-inch canvas piece, incorporating gold leaf and oil, represents the second “N” in the Q.U.A.R.A.N.T.I.N.E. Project—as in, nurture your mind, soul and body.
About the artist: The Russian-born artist studied at the renowned Moscow Surikov State Academy Art Institute—one of Russia’s two institutions of higher arts education. At age 11, Ouporov earned admittance into the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum; he graduated at 18 and earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Moscow Surikov State Academy Art Institute. Ouporov and his partner have received national and international recognition. Museum exhibitions include the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.; Museum of Contemporary Art, Goldman Warehouse and Bass Museum, all in Miami; Historical Museum of the City of Vienna; Institute of Contemporary Art in Moscow; Passage de Retz in Paris; and Boston Center for the Arts.
The Q.U.A.R.A.N.T.I.N.E. Project
South Florida artist Chen H. Bitton has curated an online exhibition, auction and fundraiser that runs through June 18. The project brings together artists from different backgrounds and funnels the COVID-19 experience through their creative prism. The exhibition is merging with Artist Relief Tree, with much of the proceeds going to that foundation’s fund for artists affected by cancellations due to the coronavirus.
