As we continue to live through tumultuous times, History Fort Lauderdale is inviting residents to step into the serenity of South Florida through the exhibit “The Art of Tim Forman: Beachscapes.”
The exhibit, which will be on display at the New River Inn (231 Southwest Second Avenue), presents the work of the South Floridian with close ties to the history of Broward County. The grandson of Davie dairy farmer Hamilton Forman, Forman grew up fishing in Biscayne Bay and visiting the beach. He started painting at 9 years old. Today, his work aims to inspire awe and portray the splendor and simplicity of the natural world. He uses field sketches, plein air paintings, and photographs to compose his pieces that are painted in layers with both knife and brush.
“We’re thrilled to welcome back one of Fort Lauderdale’s most prolific landscape artists and paintbrush historians to History Fort Lauderdale,” said Patricia Zeiler, executive director of History Fort Lauderdale. “Tim Forman’s masterful interpretations of Florida beach life and inspirational ocean views instill a sense of serenity and wonder; much needed during this tumultuous time. We invite residents and visitors of all ages to safely explore the beauty and majesty of our world.”
History Fort Lauderdale will remain in compliance with safety guidelines. Visitors must wear a mask and remain 6 feet apart from others. Hand sanitizer will be available at the front desk, and all surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned multiple times a day.
The exhibit opens July 5 and runs through Sept. 27. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Click here for information.
