Co-founder of J.R. Dunn Jewelers Dies at 78

James ‘Jim’ R. Dunn, who helped establish J.R. Dunn Jewelers as one of the most successful companies in South Florida, died on May 21 at 78.

Dunn co-owned the business with his wife Ann Marie Dunn and their son Sean Dunn. The company was established in 1969 and its success helped propel the jewelry store into one of the most well-known businesses in the community.

Dunn’s charitable work impacted many residents across the South Florida community with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, Humane Society of Broward County and other nonprofit organizations reaping the benefits of his philanthropy.

As part of his community outreach, Dunn created Dunn’s Run, a 5k walk/run event that has raised over $3 million of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. The upcoming run on Oct. 3 will be dedicated to his legacy.

Along with his wife and son, Dunn is survived by his daughter-in-law Viviana Dunn and grandchildren, Nico and Briana Dunn.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County at https://www.bgcbc.org/jim-dunn.
