United Way Of Broward County to Hold Its 30th Annual Day Of Caring

The United Way of Broward County will host its 30th Annual Day of Caring event from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 11. It will consist of a drive-through celebration and shoebox drop-off event, presented by Memorial Healthcare System

The nonprofit organization aims to UNITE community members in support of their neighbors in need by taking part in its Annual Day of Caring. Participants are asked to create and donate a shoebox filled with new toiletries and essential items, such as travel-size shampoo, deodorant, travel-size soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, adhesive bandages, hand towels, prepaid phone cards, pens, journals and other basic necessities. The shoeboxes and donations will be distributed to ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families throughout Broward. Residents participating in the event are also encouraged to decorate their shoeboxes by wrapping them like gifts and including a written note of encouragement. To celebrate the Annual Caring Day’s 30th anniversary, a special surprise will be presented to the 30th car that drives through.

During the drive-through event, all items can be dropped off at United Way of Broward County (1300 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale).
