Shine With a Purpose Program Extends Partnership With United Way of Broward County

After launching Shine with a Purpose last year to celebrate Sunshine Cleaning Systems’ 45th Anniversary celebration, its partnership with United Way of Broward County will continue to provide disinfecting services to local companies. Some of the organizations that have benefited from the program include Light of the World Clinic, Jack & Jill Center, FLITE, LifeNet4Families and Women in Distress.

“It seems so simple,” Kathleen Cannon says, United Way of Broward County president and CEO. “Yet, providing disinfecting services during the pandemic and beyond has meant a great deal to us and the charities we support. We are thrilled that this valuable service will continue in our community.”

The anniversary celebration culminated with free disinfecting at United Way of Broward County’s Ansin Building and the Mission United Colker Center, totaling more than 35,000 square feet. The volunteer-driven, community-based, nonprofit organization has serviced Broward County for more than 80 years. Sunshine Cleaning Systems, a woman-owned company providing commercial and residential janitorial services throughout Florida and North Carolina, is based in Oakland Park.

Derek Auckland, Florida Operations Manager at Sunshine Cleaning Systems, Inc., announced that Shine with a Purpose has been so successful that the company has decided to continue the program beyond the anniversary.

“We have seen firsthand the need and the gratitude among worthwhile charities in our community and are pleased to be able to continue Shine with a Purpose,” he says.
