Great South Florida Escapes: Staycations, Part 2

Plan a summer getaway at one of our local luxury resorts.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Address: 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood

Summer Wow: The guitar-shaped hotel and its surrounding spaces will be buzzing all summer with major concerts at Hard Rock Live, nightclub and day-club action at Daer, and fine dining at the likes of Kuro, Council Oak and Cipresso. But those seeking some much-needed R&R also have options—including signature packages at Rock Spa & Salon. The 42,000-square-foot oasis is making bliss a priority with rejuvenating treatments like the Tranquility Ritual (a Bora Bora-inspired journey that includes a massage with essential oils); the Thai Muscle Melt (an ancient therapy once administered, post-battle, to Thai warriors); and the Vitality Booster (a full body massage combined with reflexology methods to relieve pain).

Isn’t That Special: In addition to Florida resident rates and discounts for AAA members and military personnel, the brand is taking care of its most loyal customers with a Unity by Hard Rock program. Guests who sign up can unlock access to benefits and rewards—as well as exclusive room rates.

Mr. C

Address: 2988 McFarlane Road, Miami

Summer Wow: The six-story boutique property envisioned by Ignaizo and Maggio Cipriani and designed by Arquitectonica gives travelers the perfect perch from which to explore Coconut Grove. The resort boasts a rooftop pool and Bellini, its rooftop restaurant. Guests can work up a sweat with a personal trainer or by joining a yoga class, or you can hop on a Mr. C bike and visit the local parks, gardens and shopping hubs.

Isn’t That Special: The resort’s Summer Staycation package (through Sept. 30) adds perks beyond the special rates and room upgrades. Guests receive a welcome Bellini cocktail upon arrival, discounted amenity fee, complimentary late checkout—and exclusive access to Mr. C Beach in South Beach, where you’ll have two chairs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and towel service.

Thesis Hotel Miami

Address: 1350 S. Dixie Highway, Coral Gables

Summer Wow: This 245-room gem, just a short ride from Miracle Mile on one of the new Thesis guest bikes, oozes urban cool. It helps to have James Beard nominee Niven Patel overseeing two chef-driven dining concepts—Mamey and Orno—that feature locally sourced produce from his own Rancho Patel farm. There’s also a rooftop pool and lounge (Mamey on 3rd with live music), daily happy hours and more.

Isn’t That Special: The Suite Life package includes welcome cocktails, access to the bikes and Flow with B Yoga classes, food and beverage credit for Mamey and Orno, complimentary self-parking, turndown service and more. Ask about the pet special, Florida resident rate—and the bed & breakfast offering.
