Fort Lauderdale Seeks Nominations for Annual Walk of Fame Ceremony

The deadline is Dec. 29.

Nominations are now open for the annual Walk of Fame ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, which takes place during Memorial Day Weekend. The honorees of the Walk of Fame are acknowledged for making long-lasting, positive impacts in one or more of the following areas:

  • Providing a positive outlook for the future of our youth
  • Contributing to the quality of life for our citizens
  • Fostering the spirit of our community
  • Bringing positive recognition to the city, locally or nationally
  • Making Fort Lauderdale a place to live, work, or play
  • Encouraging people to visit Fort Lauderdale as a destination of choice

In 2010, the City of Fort Lauderdale established the Walk of Fame during the inaugural Great American Beach Party. The tribute was to honor Connie Francis for her contribution to the 1960 film Where the Boys Are, which turned Fort Lauderdale into an overnight sensation. The Walk of Fame recognizes individuals who have made lifelong and positive contributions to the city while distinguishing themselves in their respective fields. As part of the awards program, each honoree is given a commemorative paver placed in the Walk of Fame to immortalize their remarkable accomplishments. The Walk of Fame is on the beach on the east of A1A at Las Olas Boulevard. The Great American Beach Party announces the Walk of Fame honorees, tentatively scheduled for the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.

Individuals who wish to submit a nomination for the 2024 Great American Beach Party Walk of Fame are encouraged to visit ftlcity.info/wof2024 for further details. If they require this publication in an alternative format, they may contact (954) 828-4755 or email [email protected]. All the necessary information about nominating someone can be found here.
