The Brickell City Centre partnered with South Florida People of Color for its second annual Diversity of the African Diaspora: A celebration of Black cultures through performance art. The center’s Garden Deck will showcase African-rooted art on Sunday, Feb. 19, to honor Black History Month. Guests are welcome to complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres, a liquor tasting, soul and jazz performances, poetry readings and more.
The schedule of events is as follows:
- 2 p.m. Kick off the celebration MCed by performer, published author, and activist Mo Beasley with music by Miami’s favorite DJ Tillery
- 2:30 p.m. Tasting of Omage American hand-crafted brandy and O’rte 100% agave tequila
- 3 p.m. Poetry reading by Mo Beasley
- 3:30 p.m. Performance by soul singer LaVie and band
- 4:15 p.m. Poetry reading by Mo Beasley with music by DJ Tillery
- 5 p.m. Performance by LaVie featuring Jazz instrumentalist and trumpet player extraordinaire Melton Mustafa Jr.
- 6 p.m. Closing remarks
