Gilda’s Club South Florida Hosts “SNL” Themed Fundraiser Benefiting Cancer Patients and Their Families

The organization provides free social and emotional support services to anyone affected by cancer.

Gilda’s Club South Florida recently marked its 27th year of providing laughter and support to its community in honor of the late Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live, who passed away due to ovarian cancer. The organization held its annual event, “Live from South Florida… It’s Saturday Night”, presented by the Memorial Cancer Institute at the Dania Beach Improv Comedy Club.

During the event, more than 200 community supporters gathered to enjoy a hilarious night that featured tapas, specialty cocktails and an impressive silent auction. The comedians on the lineup, including Casey Peruski and headliner Monique Marvez, entertained the crowd with their jokes and had the guests crying from laughter.

“When the comedian starts crying at an event where she is supposed to make the audience laugh, you know you’re at something special,” attendee Gregg Goldstein says.

The evening generated over $130,000 to support Gilda’s Club South Florida. The organization provides free social and emotional support services to anyone affected by cancer. Support groups, lectures, healthy lifestyle workshops, social activities, and a specialized children’s program are some of the club’s services.

The event’s sponsors were Memorial Cancer Institute, Gold Aviation Services, HairClub, the Haar Family Foundation, Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc., Jennifer and Steven Tallow, Tobias Financial Advisors, Stirling Operations, Becker & Poliakoff, Walgreens, the Sally Goodman Foundation, Legacy Wealth Management, Locality Bank, Peter Woolf, A&T Dry Cleaners, Eisai and NSI Insurance Group.
