Orange Ribbons for Jaime

A nonprofit foundation created by her parents, keeps Jaime's spirit alive through giving back.

It has been 8 years since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland. Jaime Guttenberg, one of the victims, lost her life at just 14 years old. Orange Ribbons for Jaime is a 501(c)(3) is a nonprofit foundation created by her parents to honor their beautiful daughter. Jaime’s parents, Jennifer and Fred Guttenberg, wanted to support organizations that were important to Jaime in life, as well as causes related to how her life was tragically cut short. Jaime was a competitive dancer, a volunteer for those with special needs, a dog lover and so much more.

Since its inception in 2018, the organization has supported many programs nationally that represent who Jaime was and programs that support those affected by gun violence. Orange Ribbons for Jaime has also provided 92 post-high school scholarships to students of all abilities.

While continuing to partake in providing community outreach, Jaime’s parents decided to start the foundation’s own signature program. Ensuring they were honoring Jaime exactly as she would have wanted them to, they started Orange Ribbons for Jaime’s PAWS OF LOVE program which provides companion puppies and a year of dog-related expenses to select individuals and families affected by gun violence. Jaime’s favorite thing was snuggling with her two pups. They showered her with unlimited love and support. It only seemed fitting to provide that kind of love and support to others who have experienced the same trauma that her family has. To date, 15 dogs have been matched with their new grateful families all over the county.

Although Jaime will be forever 14, her legacy continues to live on through the work of her foundation. None of this would be possible without the help of generous donors. Please visit orangeribbonsforjaime.org to donate and learn more.
