Great South Florida Escapes: Staycations, Part 1

Plan a summer getaway at one of our local luxury resorts.

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa

Address: 19999 W. Country Club Drive, Aventura

Wow Factor: Few resorts can match Turnberry when it comes to an experience that seamlessly bridges the worlds of comfort, splendor, family fun, sports, world-class dining and renowned spa services. To that end, Turnberry is an escape without peer, one that literally offers something for everyone.

Golfers can step onto two beautifully manicured courses, including the famed Soffer layout. Families can stroll next door to Tidal Cove, a mammoth water park with slides, rides, a lazy river and a FlowRider surfing machine. Foodies have the pleasure of dining at award-winning Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina. And those in need of a wellness fix can find virtually any treatment under the sun at the three-floor âme Spa & Wellness Collective (which also has a 3,600-square-foot fitness center).

Speaking of the latter, the resort’s Âme-azing Spa Package includes daily 80-minute aromatherapy massages for two, a $25 daily resort credit at Corsair Kitchen & Bar, room upgrade and late checkout. Guests also can customize their spa adventure with signature experiences including the Instant Cryo Facelift, a blast of cryogenically cooled air that stimulates collagen production, eases wrinkles and diminishes puffy eyes and dark circles.

Isn’t That Special: Rates for the resort’s Splash into the Fun package, running through Sept. 30, start at $299 per night and includes admission to Tidal Cove. Guests also receive room credit of $50 per night, as well as complimentary valent parking and room upgrade and 2 p.m. checkout.

Ambersweet, with its picturesque outdoor setting, is one of several dining options at The Confidante.

Isn’t That Special: Guests don’t have to spend the night to enjoy all that the resort has to offer. Through a collaboration with ResortPass, The Confidante offers day passes for the pool areas, as well as options to book daybeds, cabanas or bungalows.
