A new partnership between HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth) and H.O.M.E.S., Inc. (Housing Opportunities, Mortgage Assistance, & Effective Neighborhood Solutions, Inc.) will allow the nonprofit organizations to combine their prowess to enhance social programs, services and housing low-income families and neighborhoods in Broward County.
To commemorate the alliance and its impact on helping lower-income residents in the county, Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness presented a proclamation marking June 30 as HANDY/H.O.M.E.S. Day in Broward County.
With both nonprofit organizations having missions centered around offering community and economic development for at-risk populations, the partnership will help strengthen their ability to help lift Broward residents out of poverty by providing financial and social services, including housing, job coaching, paid internships, financial literacy classes, life coaching, emergency services and support to young adults aging out of foster care.
