Medals for Movement

The Village of Pinecrest has been awarded silver and bronze medals by the National League of Cities through Let’s Move! Cities, Towns and Counties. The silver medal was awarded for completing the Smart Servings for Students goal, requiring that at least two actions were taken to expand access to programs that offer healthy food before, during and after the school day and summer months. The bronze came as a result of completing a Model Food Service goal, identifying all food vendors and contractors. In January, the Village was awarded a gold and two additional bronze medals for increasing play spaces for children and committing to help early care and education providers incorporate best practices for nutrition, physical activity and screen time.
