The Power of the Future

This past September, Miami-Dade County Commissioners Xavier Suarez and Daniella Levine Cava and South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard joined Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner to talk about the future of electricity during the Pinecrest Electric Vehicle Tailgate event. Each leader discussed what they are doing or plan to do in their communities to transition from gasoline and other fossil fuels to electric.

“Electric vehicles and transit allow us to power with solar, from a plant or from our own homes and offices,” said Mayor Lerner prior to the event. “This will be a frank talk about how much has not been done, and how the switch to electric relates to climate change and Miami’s future.”

The event highlighted the clean-air and cost-savings benefits of electric cars as part of the annual National Drive Electric Week. Visitors were able to meet and greet EV owners, take ride-and-drives from local EV dealers and browse vendors promoting EV aftermarket products.
