Become an SOB—Supporter of Broward

Supporter of BrowardWith its new campaign, Broward County is calling all residents to do their part to support the economy and become an SOB—Supporter of Broward that is.

“We need everyone to step up and proudly say, ‘I’m a Supporter of Broward!’ We are all in this together, and together we will make Broward County better than ever before,” says Penny Shaffer, market president at South Florida, Florida Blue, the initiative’s co-chair.

The colorful campaign, conceptualized by Zimmerman Advertising, encourages residents to be SOBs by eating, drinking and shopping at local businesses while preventing the spread of COVID-19 by washing their hands, wearing a mask and social distancing. The campaign also aims to encourage local organizations to purchase goods and services from local firms.

The 90-initiative is co-chaired by Tony Coley, regional president at South Florida, Truist Bank, and is a special project of Six Pillars Broward, a community-wide initiative of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and its 501(c)(3) Alliance Foundation. The message is being spread through print, social and digital media, highlighting local businesses, nonprofits and chambers of commerce with colorful signs, promotions and contests.

“Being a Supporter of Broward today means making a lasting impact on our local businesses and in the lives of hundreds of thousands of our neighbors, friends, children, grandparents, and generations to come,” Coley says.
