Arts Mean Busines Speaker Series

What: The ongoing program by Business for the Arts of Broward welcomes celebrated spoken word artist Darius V. Daughtry from 6-7 p.m. Daughtry, founder and artistic director of Art Prevails Project (an organization intent on expanding cultural conversations through performing arts, arts education and community interaction), is an author, director, poet and educator.

Go Red for Women

What: The campaign launched by the American Heart Association in 2004 to raise awareness that cardiovascular disease was the No. 1 killer of women presents an empowering digital program. Details had yet to be released at press time.

Steps for SOS Virtual 5K

When: May 15

What: SOS Children’s Villages, the nonprofit that operates 12 family houses in Coconut Creek for foster children, is staging a virtual run/walk, hoping to raise upward of $90,000 for its ongoing efforts.
