Zac Brown Band

  • The folksy, new-country band is performing live.

Saturday, Sept. 23

Burger & Craft Beer Bash

  • Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa is hosting the second annual event with the Young Professionals of the Palm Beaches, part of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches. Festivities include a “best slider” competition between resort chefs, live entertainment and beer samples from local brewers. The resort is also offering a special $229/night room rate for anyone who wishes to stay a little longer.

  • Tickets: $55 per person (includes unlimited food and drink samples)
  • Where: 100 S Ocean Blvd, Manalapan

Miami Hurricanes vs. Toledo Rockets

  • When: 3:30 p.m.

Zac Brown Band

  • The folksy, new-country band is performing live for a second night.
  • When: 7 p.m.
  • Where: Coral Sky Amphitheater (601-7 Sansbury’s Way, West Palm Beach)

Young the Giant

  • The alt-rock band is on its “Home of the Strange” tour, with Cold War Kids and Joywave.
  • When: 7 p.m.

David Cook

  • American Idol’s season 7 winner is performing live, bringing along singer-songwriter Kathryn Dean.
  • When: 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Broward Center for the Performing Arts (201 SW 5th Ave, Fort Lauderdale)

Sunday, Sept. 24

Claws for a Cause

  • Oceans 234 is teaming up with B The Difference, a non-profit organization that benefits families affected by Neurofibromatosis, to host a fundraiser. There will be a beachside lobster bake, Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails, Attitude by Pascal Jolivet wines from Frederick Wildman & Sons and live entertainment by DJ Charlie Cortes.
  • When: 6–9 p.m.
  • Tickets: $75 per person (a portion of the proceeds will go toward people battling Neurofibromatosis)
  • Where: Oceans 234 (234 N. Ocean Blvd., Deerfield Beach)

2Cellos

  • The classically trained and internationally acclaimed Croatian duo will play instrumental arrangements of well-known pop and rock songs, as well as classical and film music.
  • When: 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Broward Center for the Performing Arts (201 SW 5th Ave, Fort Lauderdale)

Hurricane Irma Relief: Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden

  • Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden didn’t fare well during the storm. Operations personnel is surveying the garden and the damage, and preparation has begun to reopen as soon as possible, with worst case to open by Sept. 30 in time for the rescheduled Exotic Plant and Orchid Sale, which will now run Sept. 30–Oct. 1.
  • Mounts is respectfully requesting donations to help in the restoration and replanting project. Donations made be made online at https://www.mounts.org/get-involved/donate/.

National Dumpling Day: Tuesday, Sept. 26

Miami is ready to serve up some dumplings.

Jaya at The Setai

  • Har Gu: This traditional dim sum dumpling is one of the most popular items on the menu. The dumpling is filled with fresh steamed shrimp and is served in a bamboo steamer basket.

Komodo

  • Wagyu Beef Dumplings with citrus ponzu; Kurobuta Pork Dumplings with pineapple nam prik and scallion oil; Prawn Dumplings with szechuan oil, garlic and black bean; Salt Cod Dumplings with blood orange; Vegetable Dumplings with zucchini, squash, corn and chinese shiitake
  • Komodo offers the dumplings above for dinner daily. The celeb hotspot also features The Salt Cod Dumplings during Komodo’s Lucky 9 Happy Hour and Miami Spice Dinner.

KYU

  • Pork and shiitake gyoza: Chef Michael Lewis credits his wife with developing this dish, served in truffled ponzu sauce at his Wynwood hot spot. The gyoza, a Japanese variation on traditional Chinese dumplings, is made in-house with Cheshire Pork Shoulder, Japanese Shiitake Mushrooms and house-smoked belly. The truffle ponzu is also smoked in-house, coordinating with the wood-fired Asian concept (think Japanese-meets-Texan BBQ).

TALDE

  • Pretzel Pork and Chive Dumplings: Top Chef Alum Dale Talde introduces his twist on Asian-American cuisine at The Confidante Miami Beach. The Pretzel Pork & Chive Dumplings are filled with ground pork fat, chives, sesame oil, soy sauce, chicken powder, salt, sugar and potato starch before being crisped and served with a spicy mustard sauce.

Makoto

  • Crispy Chicken Dumplings: A new menu item at Chef Makoto Okuwa’s Bal Harbour restaurant, Crispy Chicken Dumplings are served over a sesame mustard miso with scallions.

Monkitail

  • Edamame Dumpling: Made with sake, scallion and truffle, the dumplings made at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood are a delicate delight.
