Boca Raton Museum of Art presents online programs

With the coronavirus crisis continuing to keep people across the country at home, parents are looking for a way to keep children and themselves entertained.

Enter the Boca Raton Museum of Art and its recently launched its Keep Kids Smart with ART initiative. The online learning community is for art lovers of all ages to connect with the museum during social distancing and isolation as well as with their own creativity. There will be online art lessons, art activities for all ages, tips for parents and more. Those who take part in the activities can share their work with the community with the hashtag #BocaMuseumatHome.

The museum will also be featuring the work of new exhibits that were set to open in March such as “Eye to I: Self Portraits from the National Portrait Gallery,” featuring work from the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, and “Edward Steichen: In Exaltation of Flowers,” with work from Edward Steichen, Edward Hopper and composer George Gershwin.

“Art, culture, and creativity have always made a difference in powerful ways, especially during challenging times,” said Irvin Lippman, the museum’s executive director. “While the museum is temporarily closed, we will continue to give back to the community. Being inspired and creative have not been canceled. These artists in our new exhibition, ‘Eye to I: Self Portraits from the National Portrait Gallery,’ made a lasting mirror effect of themselves, cutting across time and creating a very personal art that engages us – the viewer.”
