Arsht Center brings entertainment home

Hosting world-renowned orchestras, popular singers, beloved Broadway musicals and acclaimed theatrical works, Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center is known as a hub of arts activity. And social distancing hasn’t stopped that buzz of activity. It’s just moved it online with Arsht@Home.

Introduced early this month, the online experiences allow South Florida’s art lovers of all ages to stay connected to the local arts scene through free offerings from local actors, singers and musicians.

With content updated weekly, Arsht@Home is set to offer plenty of inspiration. Art of Making features fun, instructional videos from local artists such as writer Darius V. Daughtry and singer-songwriter Sara Gonzalez. From Our Resident Companies shines a spotlight on Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera and New World Symphony with live performance streams and more. Living Room Live turns homes into concert halls with performances by Shelly Berg, Dean of the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, and others. Soon to come is Miami Monologues, a video series of performances from local artists and theater companies such as City Theatre and Zoetic Stage.

And, to replace that weekend daytrip to your favorite museum, there are visual museum tours from Miami and other global hotspots as well as curated playlists.

Plus, those looking for professional opportunities in the arts will find just what they need with Arsht@Work, through which Arsht Center’s human resources professionals will offer free, one-on-one personalized resume and interview prep workshops.

And the conversation continues online as well. Users are also invited to share how they’re engaging with the arts with the hashtag #ArshtAtHome.

“The arts are a vital part of all our lives and we at the Arsht Center take the responsibility very seriously. Despite this intermission from life as we know it, our staff has been diligently working on ways to keep our community connected to the performing arts, to Miami’s artistic community and to the Arsht Center. With Arsht@Home, we have found a way to virtually connect and engage our community by providing a platform for local artists to keep people of all ages entertained and engaged in the arts from home. Offering arts experiences to all is part of the Arsht Center’s DNA and we will continue to do that virtually until we can, once again, gather in person,” said Johann Zietsman, president and CEO of the Arsht Center.
