Do Some Good: Benefiting students and teachers

Westfield Broward hosts its Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive through Aug. 24. In partnership with The Pantry of Broward and Y100, Westfield Broward collects critical supplies for students in need such as paper, tissues, hand sanitizers and masks, index cards, headphones and more. Temple Street Eatery in Fort Lauderdale celebrates its anniversary with a partnership to pay it forward. Joining forces with the City of Fort Lauderdale, the restaurant, known for its Asian-American comfort food, offers Pay It Forward meals to the teachers of Bennett Elementary School and Harbordale Elementary School on Aug. 19, it’s sixth anniversary. If you want to treat a teacher in your life, head to Legends Tavern and Grille, which hosts its Legendary Teacher Work Week Aug. 10-14. At all four Legends locations (Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, Sunrise and Pompano Beach), teachers who show their school ID receive 20% off their bill.

 

Celebrate the return of baseball and give back to local children by buying some shoes. Alex Rodriguez invests in Miami children with the launch of the GAMMA 11 A-Rod X Alma Mater Opening Day sneaker. All sales proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, Rodriguez’s alma mater.
